Summer’s quiet
That alone can unwind
The mainspring of a heart

By heat

And busyness

So tired.

To that hidden place.

Pent up by worldly burdens.

Ants crawling across the deck
Flies finding their way into kitchens
Grasshoppers hanging out in sun-scorched weeds

I sit suspended in a bubble,
Enveloped in ethereal sound.

Gradually, tiny colored dots of light arise
Swirling around me,
Emitting notes of melody and harmony.

Water
Trees
Birds

Spring slumbers contentedly
‘Neath winter’s snowy garb.

On a nearby rooftop,
Blades of snow slide slowly to the edge,
Like a skier on a mountain,
Plopping icy, white bits into piles on the ground.

Rain spatters on the windowpane

A child is born,
And an angel is dispatched to light a candle
