Sounds of Summer
Sweet Repose
If each day’s ending could be like this
I’d stay outside forever, Lord.
To feel the air against my skin,
Sublimely perfect in its warmth.
To watch the floating dandelion orb
Bounce carefree across the grass.
The Lesson of the Windy Day
I sit and watch the river rush hastily between its banks,
propelled by a northwest wind.
Standing watch nearby the tall, thin pines sway erratically,
like a bouquet of peacock feathers,
while above the sun shines down its light,
barely warming winter’s bite.
In Praise and Awe of Winter
I stood on my stoop And raised my eyes. Startled, I stared at the sun As it peeked over the rooftop, Igniting sparkles of light on the new fallen snow. Slowly I moved my gaze around.
